This week I have reported the finding and evangelizing of two unreached peopled groups. The way they were found is amazing. Each one in a different way. But found! God has many ways of bringing these groups to the attention of those who are working in the fields of harvest!
A PICTURE IS WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS
And I wanted to show you a picture. Unfortunately, I have not be able to succeed at that task. The file was too big, or the map was difficult to understand. etc.
A WORD PICTURE IS GIVEN INSTEAD
The following quotation is the best I can offer you in this blog. I hope it will help you understand how much of the world’s population still have not heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Inside this quote there is one phrase that is especially meaningful: “with little or no access to the Gospel.” This is important wording, especially in light of the two reports I have shared with you this week. In both of those cases the Gospel is prevalent in their countries. Close at hand, or all around them, as it were. Yet no one had taken the time to search them out and take the gospel to them.
Another barrier to the unreached people groups hearing the Gospel is the multiplicity of languages in their countries. It takes deliberate effort to cross those barriers in order to find a common language that everyone can understand.
“It is estimated that of the 7.47 billion people alive in the world today, 3.15 billion of them live in unreached people groups with little or no access to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. According to Joshua Project, there are approximately 16800 unique people groups in the world with about 6900 of them considered unreached.”Unreached People Groups – Global Frontier Missions
These are staggering numbers. According to this report, 42% of the people in the world live in unreached people groups where there is little or not access to the Gospel. If you live a country like the one I live in, that may be difficult for you to wrap your mind around. Yet it is true.
HOW CAN WE HELP REACH THEM?
There are four things that can and must be done.
- Pray for them to be reached. This is the one thing all of us can do.
- Bring awareness to the need. That is what this blog is doing. Also, concerned individuals or groups can bring awareness.
- Support one or more missionaries who are searching for the unreached people in their part of the world.
- Become the missionary and GO! Not everyone will fit in this category, but God needs more workers in the harvest fields of this world. If He is calling you to this kind of service in His kingdom, will you say “Yes?”
“Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest?’ Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest.”John 4:35
